Prostheses are orthopedic aids which compensate for the acquired or congenital limb loss. The Orthopedic Workshop in the Institute continued the 100 years old tradition in the prostheses production on the location of Trapisti Monastery. Every patient in the Republic of Srpska who needs a first prosthetic rehabilitation and possibly fitting is referred to the Institute as only the Institute has a complete prosthetic team necessary for this highly specialized rehabilitation program. In the process of prescription, production and application of the prosthesis the entire team is actively involved – rehabilitation doctor and orthopedic technician, physiotherapists, nurses, occupational therapists, social worker, psychologist. There are also peer support group. The Workshop produces all prostheses available through the Health Insurance Fund. Prostheses are made out of the approved and clinically tested materials and components made by the biggest world producer OTTO BOCK, Germany. All prostheses are custom made and carefully adapted for each user so it enables the highest possible degree of independence in the activitiesof daily living.
