Clinical examination which is performed by the specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation starts with medical history taking, in order to gain an insight into the present and past symptoms. It is followed by physical checkup which evaluates the patient’s general condition and locomotor system.
If necessary, the patient is referred for additional diagnostics: ultrasound diagnostics, lab tests, X-ray, CT or MRI.
Also, the other consultants are called in the team if needed: neurologist, neurosurgeon, orthopedic surgeon, rheumatologist. When both medical and functional diagnosis are established, the rehabilitation specialist makes an individual and optimal therapeutic plan for every patient.
